Re: Bankers life & Casualty Company
Bob Stelflue guaranteed the downfall of the Madison operation with his hiring back in 1985 of Jeff Murphy.
Jeff Murphy was in his mid twenties and a high producer for sure. Like Stelfue, Murphy was uneducated and was lucky to find someplace to find his fortune.
Stelflue was an alright guy, but Murphy was a hard drinking , cocaine sniffing ( not uncommon for managers at all companies in the eighties) lowlife who beat his wife, screwed everyone out of what he could, and had no vision for his branch or his company.
Jeff Murphy is a convicted felon now, and will be on probation into his sixties.
Jeff Murphy, former branch manager at Bankers Life and Casualty fulfills Bob Stelflue and other upper Banker management of the time's vision.
If you can call it that.
That of a company of criminals.
